Come on put on some comfy shoes & let’s go for a walk with Emmett!
Here we go….my little guy can really move.
But if you think this is fast, you should clock his pace when he sees a “YARD SALE” sign!
When out walking there are so many pretty things to see. I often think “I wish my readers could come along…they would enjoy the neighborhood tours”.
Am I right? You want to come along? The pace is fast with Emmett in the lead, but we do stop sometimes to roll in the cool grass for a rest. Feel free to join him!
We host the “Tournament of Roses”, are home to the “Rose Bowl” and crown a “Rose Queen” for a reason. Roses grow really well here. We see loads of them stopping to check the names of the ones that stand out. These are the more common, no less lovely, Iceberg Roses. These would thrive anywhere & are in abundance here in Southern California.
We watched the transformation of this front yard from two boring squares of thirsty grass into this water wise, native plant paradise. Each time we walk by something new is blooming throughout the year.
This painted lady is the most recent bloomer in the water wise garden. Doesn’t this flower belie the belief that native plants are dull?
Oh here we are at the side gate to My Soulful Home…HAHAHA!! Only kidding, come on you know that is not my style. If I were to have statutes guarding my house they would be of Emmett not the cowardly lion! Turn the corner amidst colonials, craftsmen & cottages and you come upon this “hotel of a house”. Not exactly cozy.
Now this is cozy…we love cozy!
Where did that lizard get to? This might go on for a bit, so let’s look around…
Beauty literally dropping at our feet! Oh, look at that pretty house across the way…
Nice design & detail don’t you think? I like the windows and the garden suits the architecture nicely. When I walk I soak up inspiration & also think of how I would change a house or garden if I lived there. I don’t think I would change a thing here. Would you?
Right next door to the people house, a bird house…or maybe it is a condo there are lots of doorways.
You getting hot?
Oh that feels nice!
Aren’t these strong trees lovely? We will be shaded for the rest of the journey home.
We made it! Another lovely walk with Emmett. So glad you joined us. We have plenty of other routes so if you had a good time we can do it again soon. Remember to “stop and smell the roses”. Or like Emmett stop & smell anything.
Give yourself the time to appreciate the beauty around you everyday. What beauty do you see?
