Art at Home – painting Give Away
Art takes on many forms in our home.
We are fortunate enough to own a few pieces of original art. Pieces that we picked up over the the years. Each one striking a deep cord with us. This is what great art does.
This oil by artist Max Moran is very special to us. I spied it in a gallery window on a blustery day on the North Fork of Long Island. Later that night I told Peter about it & how the clouds changed as you gazed at the canvas.
The day we closed on a piece of land not a mile from the subject of the painting we went back for a look. As we absorbed the painting from the sidewalk, someone took it out of the window.
My heart sunk – then he smiled & opened the door to the gallery for me.
Peter had bought the painting for us. Pictured it is in our previous living room. Now it is hanging in our master bedroom. I love waking up to those changing clouds every morning.
You can see Max Moran is master at clouds.
We also have the precious art created by our girls…
and artfully arranged personal decor that makes our home feel like us.
Then there is the art in the house itself, the staircase, the way the light streams in the windows.
All of these elements qualify as “art at home” for me. The art of your home, no matter what it is, makes it truly yours.
You don’t have to have original paintings gracing your walls to have “art at home”, but it is nice ~ and today is your opportunity.
The source of our very generous give away is Cynthia Weber. When I first started blogging, I took note of Cynthia’s style, design skills & artful perspective. I was smitten.
When Cynthia joined bHome our mutual
stalking admiration turned to friendship. That bond was strengthened when we realized we were both about to embark on the restoration of significant historic homes.
Cynthia and her husband Kent run their custom interiors business Cynthia Weber Design from BannockBurn 1878, their historic stone home in Ontario Canada.
In addition to providing design services, Cynthia shares on their blog client projects and their journey restoring Bannock Burn 1878 and expanding the gardens. Oh, the gardens!!
The transformation is amazing to watch, the home & grounds absolutely stunning. Blog and information about working with Cynthia can be found here.
Cynthia has donated, from her heart & private collection, a beautiful original painting titled Bridge Near the Bodiam Castle by artist Peter Etril Snyder. This original work of art is valued at $700.00 CAD. Below are the artist notes.
“Over four months in Kent in 1998 made me very conscious of all the red brick building in the southeast area of England. This small bridge is a Victorian structure located near Bodiam Castle. It presents a new and colourful contrast to the soft gray/beige of the ancient stone castle. Here in North America it is difficult to think of a building that has survived for one hundred and fifty years as new, but in a land that displays items from Roman times, this bridge is gleamingly new.”
