I’ve worked many cases in my day, criminal, civil and bookcases.
At first blush, one might not realize that the putting together of a legal case & a bookcase have a lot in common. Oh, but they do, and I am going to show you how.
How to Decorate a Bookcase
Must start with a solid foundation.
Build the case methodically around a central theme. Here neutrals, black & touches of orange – a nod to the season. Inspiration for the palette was this small vignette.
Make sure the theme is threaded throughout the case.
Let the theme flow through color & texture in a bookcase, through witnesses & evidence in court.
Add something unexpected.
Have a grounding spot where the eye can rest, in a legal case have facts that can be relied upon.
Toss in a bit of drama, a smoking gun, a surprise witness…in this case, an iridescent feather duster.
When all these elements come together in a legal case you have a winner.
When they come together in a bookcase you have something like this…
I rest my case.
