We are going to do this together me & you – my house & your house.
That stuff bringing us down dude.
That stuff keeps us busy too. So busy that we have less time for what we want to be doing & the people we want to be doing it with.
So let’s edit out the excess – get rid of that stuff. Afterwards, we will have more room for the things we love and the people & activities we love even more.
See, less is more.
Less excess, more quality…not only of your stuff, but of your life.
Having less to move around, dust, take out, put away, straighten, maintain and fret about is freeing.
Free is good.
So let’s take a hard look with an editor’s eye at all we have and decide what adds to our lives & what detracts.
You are going to love the results in your life & in your house. Let’s start now!
First on the list: Christmas decor…
Did you put yours away yet? No… let’s take a look. Hmmm, anything come out but not even make it to the displays – Yes? Edit!
Anything you are keeping because someone gave it to you, but you don’t like it – Yes? Edit!
Anything you would never put on your tree but somehow you have it – Yes? Edit!
These are my 2013 Christmas decor edits.
To start I have a pretty pared down Christmas stash, yet I found this pile of excess.
No regrets donating this stuff. I don’t foresee a “Hello Kitty” Farmhouse Christmas in my future. Those craft stockings are left over from a Girl Scout project. No, they will not hang with my vintage grain sack stockings – Edit!
I am not just tossing this pile. I will donate it to the local thrift shop. As true as “less is more” is “one person’s trash is someone else’s treasure”. (Look at all the rusty old stuff I, and many of you, covet). Somebody will want a Kitty Christmas.
Here is my Christmas stash…3 bins, 2 bags of pinecones, 2 tomato cage trees and there will be a big bag of lights when I take them off the trees.
The rest of what I use is fresh flowers and greenery. I love it, it smells good & I do not have to keep it around all year. Nice!
Now, promise not to read this then spend hours packing up lots of stuff you don’t like or want, only to spend more time carting it back out next year.
Make an edit pile. Even a small one. This is not a wild purge. It is thoughtful editing that will improve your life.
Choose you over that stuff! And let me help.
When you are done editing your Christmas decor I want to see your pile. (Hey there might be something in there I love…just kidding!)
But do let me see the fruits of your editing so I can cheer you on! Post a pic of your edit pile on my Facebook page.
Next on our list: movies, cd’s, books & magazines.
We can do this!
