I have been in an empty nest this past week. At the airport now waiting to take flight to pick up my little chick-a-dees from my parents. Cannot wait to hug them!
Oh the plans I made, the projects I concocted, the mini-vacations I orchestrated in my mind leading up to this ’empty nest’ week. And, the suggestions I got from friends…go here, do this, have a spa week, indulge in a romantic get away, detox (really?), sleep in…
As the girls boarded the plane with my parents & I had not made any get away plans or even dinner reservations. I decided to stay put in my own house. Who of us with kids at home get to hang out in their own house with nothing to do except what they want?
Don’t get me wrong, I LIVE for my girls…maybe that is why a week without them in my own house was such a unique experience!
Well, what did I do…
I worked out alot;
I tried to learn all I could about doing this;
I got my Christmas crafty on;
I had a little work done on the studio;
I cared for my garden;
Jane Austen has written, “There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort”. Jane, I must agree.
Staying at home with Peter & Emmett was pretty great. We took walks, swam and when Peter got home ate dinner outside.
Each morning the day spread out before me with no demands on my time other than those I imposed. It was pretty awesome…but boy, I am a ready for some “girl” time with my girls!!
Wish me a safe journey…(not a big fan of air travel)
Gotta dash my plane is boarding…but, before I go…tell me…what would you do with a week of time all to yourself?
