Scotts® is sponsoring this post so I can tell you about their new water saving product Every Drop.
Less is more…
I agree, less is more, for so many things, but not water.
Less water is truly less water.
The fact is we have less water in California these days ~ it is us now & may be your area next.
So we all need to learn to do more with less with respect to our water supply.
There is a new product that goes a long way to doing more with less water in the garden.
Save 25% more water
Scotts® EveryDrop™ – is a granular formula that you spread on your lawn & garden.
Every Drop granules get the water moving more freely & evenly through the soil. That means more water gets to the roots – where it is most needed. There is less run-off & beading up of water on hard soils.
Using EveryDrop™ allows you to use less water because you are using the water more effectively. 25% less water in fact.
This technology has existed commercially for over 50 years. Scotts now brings this water saving capability to our homes. Helping us to do more with less.
Gardening in Drought Conditions use Every Drop
EveryDrop™ is one tool in coping with the drought and saving water in general.
As an avid gardener in water challenged Southern California, I wanted to share this new product with you and suggest to you other actions to take to conserve water in the garden.
- embrace succulents & native plants
- use a drip or soaker hose system
- if you must use sprinklers – infrequently as possible & only in the early morning
- garden in containers for pops of color
- use grass only as an accent
- mulch & underplant ( layer ) garden beds to retain moisture
- use permeable ground covers, like pebbles, in place of some lawn areas
- use EveryDrop™ by Scotts®
How much do you think you know about water usage ~ saving gallons & saving money? I thought I was pretty savvy in this department. Then I took the Save Water Quiz here.
Wow – I learned a lot of practical advice and how to save water & money. Take the quiz & let me know how you did!
There are many other ways to save water daily. The easiest & most effective thing to do is NOT letting water run when you are not actively using it. And when you are, reduce the flow.
Even if that is all you remember to do you will save water & money each month.
I keep a pitcher by my kitchen sink. I fill it with left over water from drinking glasses and clean water from rinsed dishes. I then recycle that water for indoor plants, to run the disposal or to rinse off dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.
Hoping to take this simple act of conservation a step further in the future by installing a “grey water system”. Look out for a future post on that concept.
Scotts® EveryDrop™ comes in a blue 10 lb bag or 3 lb jug look out for it at Home Depot, Lowes & Orchard Supply Hardware in California starting September 1st. Use it, along with Miracle-Gro®, for a drought tolerant and beautiful lawn & garden.
It is NOT just for Californians ~ everyone needs to be conserving water. So if you don’t mind, PIN this image & help spread the word.
Thanks to Scotts® for developing and cluing me in on EveryDrop™ & for sponsoring this post. My opinions & water saving suggestions are all mine. I hope you take them to heart & practice. Here’s to a rainy winter in SoCal ~ we need it!
