It’s all Greek for me…
Concerning yogurt that is…oh, and there was that week in Mykonos in the late 80’s…well, that is another story.
Been eating Greek yogurt for awhile. Started because I believed it to be good for me and found it to be so satisfyingly tasty.
Never took the time to find out what makes Greek yogurt different, better & delicious.
Never until now that is…
So here is the scoop on Greek yogurt & why it should be a part of your daily routine.
Greek Yogurt 101:
Greek yogurt is different than regular yogurt as the liquid whey is strained out making the consistency thicker & creamier. I probably already got you there, but do read on, it gets even better…
Removing the whey also results in less sugar, fewer carbs & a lot more protein.
6 oz of Greek yogurt has as much protein as 3 oz of lean meat and 2x the protein of regular yogurt.
All that protein makes you feel satisfied longer. This cuts down on cravings & snacking. A very good thing for the resolutions!
Aside from being packed with protein, Greek yogurt is an excellent source of calcium, potassium, zinc, B6 & B12.
Ok, this is so crushing thoughts of a doughnut with your am coffee.
Probiotics, let’s just say they are another good thing going on in Greek yogurt.
So with all the brands out there how do you know which Greek to pick?
Look for the main ingredients to be milk and live active cultures – like what is found in the new line of Yoplait 100 Greek Yogurt.
Yoplait has packaged their Greek yogurt in handy portion sized containers. Each packing a whopping 10 – 13 grams of protein and all the other great stuff I mentioned. And they have so many flavors!
I do like to jazz it up a bit now & again, but I am a vanilla girl at heart.
So my favorite Yoplait flavor is vanilla jazzed up with chia seeds, blueberries & dried cranberries. Talk about good for you & delicious!
