A lot can happen in a year…
Thinking about that today as I cleaned up from an annual breakfast meeting.
This is always a different sort of day, with china, extra chairs & more flowers, sitting in my living room sipping coffee, eating dessert for breakfast, papers & talking as morning turns to noon.
Inevitably in the quiet after everyone has gone, my mind turns to the year that past.
First thought always, wasn’t I just making extra pots of coffee last month, how is it a year has gone by?…
Funny how this day makes me reflective…not New Year, not Christmas, not birthdays…this day.
Maybe it is the singularity of it – no other day is like it. Alone tidying up my thoughts wander back.
A lot can happen in a year
Some things remained the same, while others changed dramatically.
Recently I suffered the loss of a friend that will forever leave a hole in my heart. She was woven into the fabric of my life and the weave will now never be the same. A thread is missing.
This year also brought creativity, connections, excitement and opportunities beyond my hopes with the growth of My Soulful Home and the launch of bHome.
My girls started middle & high school, adjusting well to all that entails.
Many other happenings both big & small.
Ride that roller coaster…
Somethings will be constant, but there will always be fresh beginnings and new realities born both out of happiness & sadness.
But it isn’t so much what happens, but how we face it that is the true hallmark of our lives.
Embrace each day no matter what it brings, enjoy it, take it head on and be grateful for it. The people, the humor, the challenges, the grief, the mundane and the magic ~ all the threads that make up the fabric of our lives.
