Today I want to share one of my “hang ups”~ literally a hang up. I adore plates hanging on the wall. Do you? If you do, or if you will after reading this post, I have the best product to use to get those plates out of the cupboards & on display.
.
I use the U.K.’s Leeds Display adhesive discs to affix my plates to the wall. These discs stick to your lovelies with no muss or fuss and are even removable!

The discs come in a variety of sizes depending on the dimensions of your plate. I score mine at the Container Store. If there isn’t one near you, another company offers very similar ones on line at www.allplatehangers.com. The cost ranges from about $3.50 -$5.50 per depending on the size of your plate.

No matter how many I buy I always need another, so I stock up ~ as you can see. Currently, I am in the midst of covering one wall of my downstairs bath with plates, so my need for these discs is unending. Such a bummer to come home from treasure hunting with a “new” plate for the collection only to be out of Leeds discs! Good to have a stash on hand.

See how nicely that plate hangs without the distraction of the wires around the bottom & top. Lovely! So easy to use too.
Here’s how:
- find a plate you love, be it chippy vintage perfection with crazing & crackling as I adore or any pattern you love;
- measure the plate to make sure you are using the correct size disc;
- turn the plate over & use a pinch of scouring powder to clean the back where the disc will be placed, wipe clean & dry;
- align the plate so the disc’s hook is placed correctly according to the plate’s pattern ( using the above photo as an example – make sure you aren’t adhering the disc with the strawberries upside down);
- wet your fingers with water & mix with the glue on back of the disc;
- let the glue on the back of the disc get tacky~about 5 minutes
- check your alignment & attach the disc to the plate smoothing out the disc with a flat edged coin or bottom of a pen;
- allow to set for 12 hours.
*A tip ~ attach the disc as low as possible on the plate in order that the nail/hook are not seen at all once on the wall.

The foyer of my soulful home complete with a collection of vintage plates.

Thanks so much for subscribing to & visiting My Soulful Home. A comment or two would cheer me up. I am still feeling a bit ‘Downton’ today. Oh, I mean down ~ about Matthew. How about you?

p.s. I received nothing in return for promoting Leed’s Display or allplatehangers.com. I made this endorsement as I use & like the product.

love the plates on the wall and thanks for the great resource for hanging plates..
Hi Constance…thanks for your comment. Glad to have you “in” My Soulful Home!
Have a lovely day…
I too love to hang plates all over the house. Your displays are awesome! Thanks for your tip on the plate hangers. I have a Container Store nearby and will definitely pick up some next time I’m there.
Your home is lovely and I am especially taken by that spectacular table in your foyer. Where did you find it?
Ana Maria,
I have to agree..that table is something else! I was lucky enough to be given it by my mother. When she sees it in this post she might want it back! It is an antique purchased years & years ago on the eastern end of Long Island NY. My mom had a terrific source there. Bet you might even be able to get the Leeds hangers on line from the Container Store. Save yourself a trip and some $$. If you are like me, it is hard to get out of there without something extra like a pretty folder or an organizing box.
Have a really nice day & again, thank you for coming to My Soulful Home.

I am also “DOWNTON” sad. , but your blog brought me back-love all your plates and especially that lovely piece of furniture in your front hall!!!!!
such a lovely post – i love the look of hanging plates but guess what? never tried it once! too scared – is that a bit ridiculous consider i would skydive but i am always worried i might bump into it and it would break…
your plates are lovely as well – i have some plates i like and collect but just dont put up…
can i ask you a question though – do you think a bowl would work or is that silly? sorry for the dumb question but i have never ever done this before.
love the pics – we want more!!
Yes Naomi a bowl will work for sure. I have a small one hanging on the wall in my bath…the wall I am working on currently. I do think a more shallow bowl might be best so you don’t see the hook ~ or bump into it as you fear! Bowls would be cool, very three dimensional. Go for it! Sky diving?? Need to hear more of that! Thanks for visiting…
I love hanging pretty plates on the wall. Yours looks so pretty, and thanks for the tip about the hanging discs. I need to get some of those.

Oh yes you must..they really are the best!
So when you put these on your plate, can you ever get them off? what about if you constantly change your decor… not that I do anything like that, but if I wanted to change my plates out and use them again for serving..could I??
This is so funny that your comment/question came in right now. I was just attaching more discs to plates I bought yesterday! Yes, you can take them off the wall. The disc attaches with a strong adhesive to the back of the plate & it has a round metal loop. The metal loop hangs on the little hook you nail to the wall. So it just like hanging anything else, you take it off and there is just the little nail hole in the wall, or if it is like some of my attempts there are a few little nail holes in the wall! As for removing the disc, I have not done this, but I know people who have, and they do come off by simply soaking over night or for at least several hours in warm soapy water. The disc packaging even proclaims this so it must work easily. They really are the best for hanging plates.
Thanks for your question ~ hope my answer helped!
