Week in Review – San Francisco, white flowers, casual decor…

This time last Friday I was in San Francisco with my Girl Scout Troop.

We went to the City by the Bay to trek across the Golden Gate with 5,000 other Scouts in a symbolic “bridging” ceremony. Awesome, huh?

Aside from all the fun we had, we stayed in a great hotel that I thought you might like to know about.

Argonaut Hotel San Francisco

The Argonaut ~ a boutique hotel perfectly located near all the attractions someone visiting San Fran with kids would want to see… and which has well appointed rooms, a spa (not that I did any spa’ing)…

AND which serves complimentary wine in the lobby from 5-6 to tired mommies & others, while entertaining the kids with a hotel scavenger hunt. If there was a hotelier badge I would bestow it upon the Argonaut.

We hustled it on over to Cow Hollow area for dinner.  Delarosa’s on Chestnut was perfect!

It is a modern cafe with communal tables. We had two such tables one for the girls & one for the moms.  Gourmet brick oven  pizza, pasta & salads amongst a decidedly hip crowd of young families, daters and  those popping in after work.

This area of Chestnut is chock full of wonderful shops, restaurants & coffee bars. I’ve been there a few times over the course of many years & it never disappoints. Back in the late 80′s I bought a black leather jacket with substantial shoulder pads on this same stretch.  How I loved that jacket!

Seems like you are as excited about my “white garden” as I am!  I got so many wonderful suggestions for white blooms from readers, FB & G+ followers that I thought I would share the extended list.

  • Annabelle Hydrangea
  • Gardenia
  • Phlox Paniculata David
  • Mock Orange
  • Verbena
  • Camomille
  • Sweet Alyssum

The Pinterest Board of Interest for this week is DECO curated by Valerie Penty.  Deco as in decoration not Art Deco.  This board is so cohesive in vibe & look.  Lots of white, dark wood, soft light, texture and comfortable furnishings.

This PIN always grabs me so when I saw it included here, I wanted to share it as the feature PIN.  It kinda sums up the whole board. Follow for casual style done so very right.

Ever get a bit of a song stuck in your head?  All week I have been mentally serenading myself with this snippet….”Guilty feet have got no rhythm”.

Can you name the song ….AND get it out of my head!

Happy Friday!!

  1. Lol, first thing first…George Michael Careless Whispers. Oh I hate it when that happens. I usually end up humming “This is the song that doesn’t end…” for a few repetitions. You know that one? Just as annoying but tolerable. Looks like you had a great time and found the perfect places for your whole group. I used to love those mommies and children things. Mine were usually soccer or hockey weekend tournaments. I miss San Francisco. I usually get there once per year or so. Right now I’m going to make another cup of tea and mist my jade plant, (which I smuggled from San Fran as a tiny piece of a hedge I found on the pavement and is doing beautifully as a Vancouver house plant.) :)

    • Of course you knew the song! Love that you have a San Francisco native growing in your house!
      Happy Mother’s Day!

  2. Oh I love SF! Such a gorgeous city! Glad you had fun!

  3. Looking over Pinterest today (I follow you), your pin above caught my eye and led me back to this post. Then I see your recap of SF – my husband & I stayed in the Argonaut! It was a wonderful trip, and the hotel was memorable – loved all the decor and appointments! Made my day to see it again. :)
