Magical – exciting – truly dreamy, I could go on and on with adjectives to describe my 36 hours in Washington visiting the HGTV Dream Home 2018.
Myself and a handful of other bloggers were treated like VIPs by the HGTV team and as old friends by the charming & talented Brian Patrick Flynn.
Brian is the designer & producer behind the house & its transformation.
Don’t worry the VIP status was so fleeting it did not go to my head.
I arrived home to a sick daughter & a sick dog. Like Cinderella after midnight, I was back doing laundry shortly after the plane landed…
But while I was there I soaked it all in so I could share it with you!
Let’s go back now together so you can see what I experienced.
Then when you win you can invite me back ’cause I liked it so much.
The black exterior. LOVE it! Bold, but not jarring in that setting. The house blends into the landscape, then unfolds as you enter.
This was my first trip to the Pacific Northwest.
Gig Harbor, where the house is located, is a charming little city situated right on the Puget Sound.
The location of the house is phenomenal. The transformation remarkable. The design stunning…and that fact that you can win it, unbelievable!!
I really liked Brian. He was unpretentious and friendly. He seemed truly concerned as to whether we would love the house.
The paint palette is from the quiet comfort collection by Sherman Williams.
The pale pink, peach, lavender & blue accenting the white of the interior flows right along with the mist that was covering the water when we arrived.
Then later when the sun came out the colors of the house were whispery hues of the colors in the sky.
Moving the fireplace to the center of the great room was a terrific idea. This allows full vantage of the view.
The entire design and all the decor, while stunning in and of itself, does not compete with the view.
It all compliments the natural beauty surrounding the house.
Well done B.P.F!
A few specific design moves that stood out and are take aways for everyone to try in their own homes were:
The art hung low in the stairwell where you can appreciate it covering the whole wall.
The water worn branches hung as art – the tip here – think out of the box or shall I say “off the wall” !
The touches that give the house a sense of place. Always a great idea to incorporate in any home, but especially one is such an interesting location.
Ok, the biggest compliment I can give ~The HGTV Dream Home 2018 has soul.
Pretty unbelievable that I was invited. More unbelievable that someone will win it, 250k in cash and a car!
You can enter for a chance to win the HGTV® Dream Home 2018 2x a day every day up until 2/16/18.
Simply go HERE to enter.
Now if you do win, I am not saying, I should be invited back, but, I did check out the awesome antiquing in Tacoma before I headed home, so I can clue you in on the treasures in the hood. ( more on that soon )
Hope you enjoyed the tour. Tell me, what is your favorite aspect of the house?
