Create a Floral Wreath for your Hair

Keeping busy this week as usual, but for unusual reasons too...How to make a floral wreath for your hair-www.mysoulfulhome.comI have two graduates commencing this week. After tomorrow I will no longer have a child in elementary school ~ this I can't really believe...make a floral wreath for your hair-www.mysoulfulhome.comKeeping busy is good this week so I don't have time to be sad…maybe melancholy is a better word for what I am feeling deep inside.  (Also kinda old, as how can I have a high schooler already?!)So when my soon to be 9th grader said she wanted a floral wreath to wear in her hair for graduation, I jumped at the chance to make it.  That would keep me even busier!make a floral wreath for your hair-www.mysoulfulhome.comAnd no self respecting DIY'er orders a floral wreath from a florist!  Too easy… Let me show you how!Materials:

  • sturdy flowers
  • thin wire
  • floral tape
  • ribbon (optional)

Steps:

  • cut 3 equal lengths of wire - approx 23 inches long depending on head size
  • twist the 3 pieces of wire around each other to make it stiffer

  • circle the wire & twist to close
  • wrap twist in floral tape
  • decide on the flower arrangement
  • attach flowers alone or in little clusters using short lengths of wire
  • add a bit of ribbon to cover any twisted wire or just for decoration

Since the flowers need stem to be attached to the wire, lay the flowers on their side & overlap a flower on top of a stem as you go around.  This will give a full circle of flowers wreath.make a floral wreath for your hair-www.mysoulfulhome.comSince Ava wanted a very delicate floral wreath, we opted to cross the stems to create little clusters of flowers spaced around the wire circle.  Once on her head it will look as though the flowers are floating.  Delicate & very pretty!make a floral wreath for your hair-www.mysoulfulhome.comA tip on the flowers, choose sturdy long lasting ones.  Daisies, small mums & baby's breath are good choices.  Store the finished wreath in the fridge.  It should look fresh for a day or so.make a floral wreath for your hair-www.mysoulfulhome.comA floral wreath is perfect for graduation, a wedding or any occasion where you want to feel special and feminine.  Also, the perfect thing to make when you don't want to feel melancholy and old.  (Busy hands are happy hands!)I feel better now.  I made something pretty and ~ I know they will always be my babies, right?Congratulations to all the graduates & a hug to their moms ~ XX** Kelly **
