Did I hear you ask for Permission?

I thought I heard a mumble, a grumble, a sigh...

Maybe I am just getting the feeling you want to ask something, but you haven't quite put it into words yet.

If your feeling is more of overwhelm, rather then overjoy at the prospect of the holiday lalapolooza that is about to commence, I don't think you are alone.

So I want to talk to you about giving yourself permission.

I can give it to you ~ and I do ~ but only you can truly give yourself the gift of permission.

Permission

  • not to do everything this holiday season
  • not to pull out every Christmas bin
  • not to deck your halls at all, if that feels right
  • to say no to parties, obligations & requests
  • to sit, relax and enjoy this special time of year without a to-do-list as long as Santa's

I started giving myself "permission" just this year.  Let me tell you, it feels so liberating!

Many things I was doing were self imposed obligations anyway, so I hardly let anyone down.  I just never thought to just stop self imposing!

Giving myself 'permission to not' was a gift!

I shared my thoughts on permission with my dear friend.

Turns out she had been thinking similar thoughts.  We decided to support each other in giving permission.  We even came up with a code phrase ~ " the cookies can be store bought".  It made us laugh and is used to remind each other when 'permission to not' should be granted.

So my friends, do as little or as much as feels good & right to you this season.  Let's encourage each other in giving ourselves a little slack, showing self kindness and giving permission to do a bit less & enjoy a bit more this season.

Remember, "the cookies can be store bought"!
