Farmhouse Glam Kitchen - the Elements
I have had something cooking for a year & a half.
Many of you know what I am referring to...
The purchase of our new/old house.
Can you believe, a year & a half? And not just a sitting & waiting year & a half ~ a crazy roller coaster year & a half in connection with the house.
Well, one good thing about all that time is I am READY! My Pinterest boards are chock full, notes taken, plans drawn, team assembled - plumber, electrician, cabinet maker, floor refinisher & the list goes on...
Phase I will be kitchen & 3 bathrooms.
Sharing my kitchen inspiration & plans today!
Sharing Five elements I will incorporate and the looks that inspire them. You can find these kitchens by clicking the images and many more are on my boards here & here.
Five Elements of a Farmhouse Glam Kitchen
Element One
I covet pretty much everything about Olivia Brock's kitchen. Her finishing touches top my list.
Unlacquered brass gooseneck bridge faucet and complimentary hardware - Element #1. Sometimes one starts with accessories. You can get the perfect unlacquered brass bridge faucet here.
Both lend a bit of vintage bling. Perfect for the age of the house & the look I am seeking to achieve.
Element Two
Not compromising here. Element #2 - Carrara or Calcutta marble. Like this kitchen, I may use it only on a small vintage table, but it will be present!
Element Three
A farmhouse sink ~ what farmhouse kitchen is without one? Element # 3 - farmhouse sink.
I have picked out a Shaw sink. The deal real. I don't think it is money down the drain - but an investment. This house deserves oneā¦ and so do I. Plus I got a great discount!
Element Four
You were looking for some glam... Look up! Element #4 - crystal chandelier. Painting the now silver tin ceiling white & dangling a sparkly beauty. On a dimmer, but of course.
Element Five
Open shelving - Element #5. I saved this one for last as the open shelving debate really gets people going!
Let me say, I have spent an inordinate amount of time thinking about this, purging kitchen stuff and that I am going into it with my eyes ( and my cabinets for that matter ) wide open.
So don't try to talk me out of it. But if I hate it ( and I will be honest ), you, in the closed camp, are allowed one, only one, "I told you so". Deal?
What do all these kitchens have in common? To my aesthetic they are authentic. The 5 must have elements are timeless & add to the overall authenticity. Needless to say, white paint & subway tile part of the mix too.
Ok, let's do this thing!! Wanna come over & help demo? It starts on Peter's birthday October 15th - can I give him the sink as a birthday gift?
Oh gosh - if you are considering coming to help, you ought to see what you are getting yourself into...
Here are two before pics - and these are looking pretty good as were taken during an open house.
The stove stays! The next picture shows where the breakfast nook will be ~ I know, stick with me! Click these images for videos.
Oh, you are busy on the 15th? I completely understand...
But do tell me which is your favorite element?
