Spring in the Kitchen - Styled & Set

Welcome to spring in the kitchen!

Spring in the Kitchen http://mysoulfulhome.com

Today I am joining forces with several bloggers for the the Styled & Set Easter Tour.

This tour was lovingly & artfully organized by my friend Lory at Designthusiasm. Thank YOU Lory!

If you are coming over from Eleven Gables welcome & welcome to those starting the tour here!

This is my first spring with my new kitchen, so I decided to have some fun decorating it for the season.

We end up eating in here most evenings and may do the same for Easter dinner, but certainly Easter breakfast.

This tablescape can go morning to night.  For me candles not just for night time dining.

For this house, I have kept to a tight palette of colors - white, grey, black, burlap-y tan, a touch of green & metallics.

I chose to stay within this palette for my spring table & simply add a pop of golden yellow.

There are also some subtle Easter touches that I think add to the spring feel.

How to add spring in the Kitchen

TULIPS

Nothing says spring like tulips.  So the pop yellow comes primarily from tulips & yellow daisies.

Buy a bunch or two of spring flowers and tuck them in vases all around your kitchen.

I added in some Lady Banks roses that I have in my garden to soften the centerpiece arrangement.

NESTS

Women seems to be drawn to nests.  I love them.  You?

Maybe it is the Mamma bird tucked in with her chicks thing, but whatever makes us love them so, spring is the perfect time to add one to your decor.

I have a large rustic looking one perched on my bistro chair and made little moss nests for my place card eggs.

What could be easier than these place card eggs?

Gather a few real unadorned white eggs, a sharpie & a bag of moss and you are set.  After writing on the names, nestle the eggs in a nest of moss.  Instant Easter charm!

FEATHERS & EGGS

Don't stop at nests, anything bird related speaks of spring.  I added in a real feather & a faux egg dipped in glitter, along with vintage gardening books.  Gardening and spring hand in glove ~ garden glove that is.

CHECK NAPKINS

Using cloth napkins is an easy way to elevate the everyday a bit.  Doing so with whimsical buffalo check fabric adds a touch of spring.

I love these gray & white buffalo check napkins I recently bought on Amazon.  Here is the link in case you want to check them out - pun intended!

I even used two to soften the edge of the galvanized bucket holding my kitchen Boxwood.  Speaking of Boxwood...

BOXWOOD

Did you know Boxwood does really well inside?  Well, it does.

Don't let it dry out and make sure it is near a sunny window.  Even diffused light is fine.

I love the fresh pop of green that Boxwood gives a room.  The new growth on Boxwood is definitely the green of spring.

WATERING CANS

As I mentioned, anything garden related harkens the arrival of spring.

I have a collection of watering cans some of which I display all year.  But in spring I bring them all out.  Two of my favorites are in the kitchen right now.

Did you know watering cans make great door stops?

We had these factory metal doors made and they are heavy.  I prop them open by using a watering can with a brick slipped inside of it.  The doors stay open and the watering cans add charm.
