Summer on the Front Porch - Tips for Patriotic Decor
Drop on over, I'll be waiting for you on the porch!
Summer is here & the living is easy. Settle in on the rocker or wicker settee, breathe in the scent of the gardenia bushes while I pour you a cool drink.
This is what a front porch is for - relaxing, visiting, watching your slice of the world pass by as you flip through a pretty magazine or book.
I SO enjoy decorating my porch for the seasons & holidays. It is a separate area that isn't overwhelming to change up, as such it allows for a bit more color & whimsy than my interiors. And, best of all, doing so it gets me out here to enjoy the space.
Right now my porch is decked for 4th of July. Can you believe we are in mid June already?
If you want to add patriotic decor to your porch, interior decor or table top decor, today's ideas are sure to inspire.
Easy, impactful and inexpensive everyone can get this patriotic decor look, just follow my tips.
Tips for Patriotic Decor
Start with a palette of red, white & blue. The hues can be non-traditional, such as persimmon, cream & slate, but the colors need to be in the red, white & blue family.
Buy a few packages of sparklers and slip into a tall glass jar.
Add a vintage book or stack of 3 in red or blue.
Work in flags big & small. (Make tea stained flags HERE.)
Use a collection of pillows to fill out your seating.
Create a vignette on a tray using 3 items of varying heights.
Add red flowers - don't tell, but these geraniums are faux from Joanne's 60% off!
While it is really fun & a creative outlet to decorate an area from 'scratch', I also like to have the seasonal items conveniently stored together. This way I can quickly clean up & transform my porch.
To that end, I keep my seasonal porch items in separately labeled plastic bins.
Open my 4th of July bin full of patriotic decor and in it are all the times you see here & more. I even store my seasonal pillow covers in these bins.
Just slip the covers off the inserts, fold once and slide inside a large zip-lock bag for next year. Then the inserts are freed up for my next decorating project.
Choosing pillow covers instead of entire pillows is a much better way to go when storing seasonal pillows.
Now what about that cool drink I promised?!...
If you are enjoying my patriotic front porch you can get the look by:
shopping your house for red, white & blue items;
picking up packs of sparklers; tucking in a few flags & books, and;
adding a bouquet of red flowers.
Glad I had that bin all ready to roll, as honestly, how is it mid June already? I haven't even been to the beach yet! At least I have been on the porch.
Happy that you came by,
