Teen Room Reveal with Pier 1

Being 13 has it challenges, to say the least...
I have heard middle school referred to as a "field of land mines" ~ "You just don't know what is coming next, Mom".
While it can be a place of fun & friendship, there is just A LOT going on in and outside those bodies.
Teen Room Decor
Young teens surely need a place to chill ~ a sanctuary of sorts.
Every sanctuary should have these silver velvet pillows - beautifully made and with the perfect plumpness!
Frankly, we all need a sanctuary, a place we can just be and have that be enough.
Instead of creating another guest room that would sit empty 360 days a year, Lara, I and Pier 1 made a room to BE in out of a spare room.
Definitely sanctuary material - the Mongolian Pillows ~ what a terrific price!
Ok, wait before you head over to snatch up those pillows, I have to show you the before of this room.

Ok - now you've seen the past. Let's get back to the new reality...
We created a room for a girl who is straddling kid-dom and teen-dom using teen room decor with flair & furnishings that will last.
A place to hang out with friends stuffed or real.
A place to relax and let the day fall away ~ even if there is homework to do later.
All this talk ~ come on in! Lara and I are excited to share her sanctuary with you and show you all the wonderful things Pier One shared with us.
No matter your age, maybe you'll be inspired to create a similar space. We'll leave links to the Pier 1 items for your convenience.

Lara and I love everything in the room much of it has been collected, pre-loved and spray painted.
The fabulous new pieces are from Pier 1 - the rug, rod/drapes, pillows, silver basket/tote, galvanized light up L, jewelry armoire, gallery wall frame and plush beanbag. Besides Lara, these are the stars of the room!
I can't decide what I love the most.
The full length mirror jewelry armoire is so pretty, practical and such space saver. In our 1886 home closet space is at a premium, so I guess it is the armoire for me. Ava wants one now too!

Jewelry, headbands, special trinkets - so much can fit in there and an inside mirror. Sturdy and oh so pretty. Time to fill it up!
Oh the bean bag chair - now that is spot to chill! And what a terrific Christmas gift a beanbag chair is...useful & fun ~ and it is on sale!
I say this, as I was the happy recipient of a beanbag chair for Christmas in 1978.
Mine was not as comfy as this one. It was yellow vinyl. You kinda stuck to it when you got up. I loved it despite that and despite the fact that it changed Christmas for me forever.
You see, I had tried out bean bag chairs before & knew what they sounded like.
So when I heard my parents on Christmas Eve talking in hushed tones while walking past my door and also clearly heard that distinct beanbag sound, my Sugar Plum visions were called into question.
Suspicions reluctantly confirmed the next morning when I opened the biggest gift to the same sounds. I loved my beanbag chair nevertheless.
Long story to say ~ a bean bag chair is a great Christmas gift - just don't carry it by your kids door to the tree!
This instant gallery wall frame is from Pier One too. Nice to see Lara picked pictures of her sister to include!
Gallery walls can be tricky to create, especially a layered one. This frame does it all for you.
All we did was pick out the photos & slide them in. Oh and, it comes with a whole bunch of cards, like the 'love" and initials that you can insert.
Speaking of initials ~ this galvanized L is the bomb! Whimsical & a bit edgy it is a perfect foil to the girly bits in the room. And what a perfect nightlight.
Nubby and soft are perfect words to describe the Pier 1 grey rug.
It is very comfortable under foot & I love the way it looks against the dark floor and white trim.
The drapes are very nice quality, heathered grey with a whisper of metallic. We decided to let them puddle on the ground and really like the effect. The fabric is of the perfect weight to create a pretty 'puddle' and keep the south facing room cool.
Slide the drapes open and you can step out onto the balcony. Here we have two black outdoor pillows from Pier One that completely resist fading in the hot sun.
Lara & I are so glad you came by to chill and hang out with us in her room.
