Uncommonly Good - stuff, company & give away
Some things are just uncommonly good.
I seek those things out. I know you do too.
When I find such things I want to share them with you.
Time is short - surround yourself with things that are well made, make you smile & help make your world be a bit nicer.
Simply put, things that are uncommonly good
Even better if those uncommonly good things can make the bigger world a little bit nicer too.
Today I am sharing with you a company that provides you with just those sorts of things.
~ read on for an opportunity to win a gift card ~
Uncommon Goods
The company is called Uncommon Goods. They have been around a while making art, handmade & unique goods accessible.
I picked out three things that are well made, make me smile & will make, not just my world, but the bigger world a bit nicer too.
- a handmade felt zip code pillow
Surely you will find 3 or more things that do the same for you. Look here.
The items themselves cover: 1. well made 2. makes me smile and 3. my world nicer.
The Better to Give Program run by Uncommon Goods covers the making the bigger world nicer part.
For every purchase Uncommon Goods donates $1 to a charity of your choice from their charitable partners.
I choose my dollars to go to Reach Out and Read. Because really without education where are we?
Ok, now let me tell you about the uncommonly great things I got...
My zip code pillow - handmade in Brooklyn NY - like I was. Guess you can call people handmade in a sense!
Right now it is in my foyer on the deacon's bench my mom gave me when they moved. I love that bench - thx Mom!
You can get any dates, your name or sayings, not only zip codes.
Might have to get another one with 1886 stitched on it. ( haha ~ no, not my birth year - the year my house was built! )
Check out the artist, Alexandra Ferguson, who makes these unique beautifully crafted pillows.
My candle makes me smile b/c it is an Katz egg cream candle. Beeswax poured into an original glass from that iconic NY Deli.
The fact that an egg cream candle with that distinct, delicious scent exits is nice enough, but that it reminds me of my Grandma, Dolores is very nice indeed.
You see, when I was little Dolores would take me on the bus to her hair dresser. On these outings, I was allowed to wear her shoes & costume jewelry of my choice.
I remember riding the bus with her wearing a pair of navy & white polka dot shoes, clip ons and smelling like her Evening In Paris perfume. What does this have to do with egg creams you ask? You are so good at keeping me focused !
Well, after the hair dresser my grandma would take me to Woolworth's Five & Dime store where we would sit on the spinny stools at the counter.
I would have a hot dog with a buttery grilled bun & my Grandma would have an egg cream served in a tall parfait glass.
I distinctly remember the scent of the frothy egg cream. It is this candle. We weren't at the famous Katz - we were in Queens not Manhattan, but the smell is the same.
It makes me smile that in the world there are egg cream candles that remind me of days with my grandma.
Another SMILE will be from my daughter when she receives this leather charging purse for Christmas. Forever on low battery, this will be a stylish life saver!
A beautiful black leather purse with those edgy little studs and a built in charger. Santa couldn't do better!
Uncommon Goods & I want you to have things that are well made, make you smile & make the world a little bit at the same time.
