Container Garden - a rescue & how to
I have a soft spot for the less than and left behind.Like the one eyed stuffed panda I picked out from a Howard Johnson's gift shop while on a family road trip to Orlando in 1971,I had to take this sad little pail home.It too had seen ( no pun intended ) better days. Dented, rusted and discarded.Emmett and I were out walking when we spotted it in a clearing ~ forlorn & empty. Not sure how it got there and with no one around to ask, I carried it home. I think that was ok, right?Today I picked out some flowers to go in it.I knew I wanted Grey French Lavender because it goes so well with the grey of the metal. ( do u spell grey with an "a" or an "e" ~ I prefer "e" )Then I add:
- Sage
- deep purple Verbena
- Dusty Miller, and
- Bacopa
I know it isn't so, but it almost seemed like the dented metal eased back into place as the little pail was filled up with the lovely flowers.Well, at least you can't see the dent much anymore. And when the Bocopa trails over the edges & down the sides there will be no trace. This container, a vintage enamelware bathtub, I planted last year & it still looks great.Click here to get my advice & tips on planting your own container gardens.Remember it is really important to feed container plants as they get no nutrients from the earth. I always use my 3 secrets in the bottom of the container. You probably have them in your kitchen right now.I have plans for the weekend that I am sooo excited about! I will tell you why tomorrow.Have a wonderful day...** Kelly **
