Fourth of July decor ~ red, white & blue
Well, I still can't believe it is JULY!But since it is, and we never miss a chance to decorate here at MSH, I am going to share with you my Fourth of July decorations.Simple, summery & on theme! Here is what you see when you walk in… tea stained flags, a jar of sparklers, starfish & white roses from the garden,a white pitcher and these red, white & blue books...I didn't buy anything for these vignettes ~ just shopped my cabinets & book shelves for red, white & blue.Do you decorate with old books? It is an inexpensive way to give a vintage feel to a shelf or grouping. I also love the smell of old books & seeing the names often written inside with scratchy pen & ink.Next let's move into the "breakfast room" ~ homework room, dinner room, sewing room, office. This room has many purposes and with our giant chalk board on the wall it also announces & celebrates all things going on at MSH.Remember my heart on a wire project? Here is the Fourth of July version! The bunting is made from vintage hankies cut in half & sewn together with ribbon. Lovely way to re-purpose these dainty wisps of fabric. Can you just imagine the ladies that held each one. Their names, their lives, their loves! What stories those little squares could tell...For fun…leave me a comment with the name and one sentence about the owner of one of the hankies. Let's see what you can come up with!May your 4th be filled with fun & lit by sparklers! ( I love sparklers!! )** Kelly **
