Summer Picnic - simple & stylish
Have you had a picnic yet this summer?A picnic is such a relaxing & festive way to spend a summer afternoon. Go to the park or beach with a basket chockfull of goodies - or just set up in your own backyard.Red Envelope asked me to share my perfect picnic. In my opinion picnics should be simple. Simple but stylish. (why do anything without style?).For me simple & stylish are not mutually exclusive. Style, like elegance, is often simple. Less is more with flair kinda thing. Here's how to make your summer picnic simple and stylish:~ Keep the menu basic - sandwiches, fruit & something sweet.I wrapped my BLT sandwiches in wax paper tied with string. Adding little tags leaves no need to peek to see which one has what. I love the old fashioned look of wax paper. It beats tin foil on style by a mile.Summer & berries go hand in hand, or should I say hand to mouth! Luscious blackberries, raspberries & gorgeous cherries are really the only sweet you need, but I tucked in a vanilla poundcake too.Another thing to slip into your basket, if your picnic'ers are adults & so inclined, a bottle of Rose'.~ Coordinate your linens with the serving pieces.~ use the real plates & glassware, but forgo the need for utensils by serving pre-cut finger foods. (my girls gave me the mason jar glasses for Christmas -they know their mom!)~ bring along a simple game like checkers to play, or not… too busy relaxing maybe.Relaxing is really the important part of a picnic. If you keep it simple (albeit with style ) you can have a relaxing & beautiful afternoon. Can you guess which country invented the picnic basket?** Kelly **
