Garden Tour, let's have a look around before it changes again
I've had dirt under my nails & mulch in my hair a lot these days. Busy as a bee in my garden & loving every minute of it.The garden changes even more than inside my house. After all, that is the 'nature' of a garden & I contribute to it by digging this up & moving that, adding and taking away. What you see today is a snapshot in time of an ever evolving space. But isn't that true of every place and, really everybody. My garden helps me to know change is good...a concept I have not always embraced. Ohhh...deep thoughts...Well enough of that for now, let's 'dig in' and see what is blooming these days.Come on outside with me for a garden tour...Can you see Emmett? He wants to come outside for the tour too! Around my front door is "purple trumpet vine". I swear that is what it is called. I am sure there is a latin name, but it's common name is pretty common. It is evergreen & blooms in the Spring wreathing the door in trumpet shaped flowers that the hummingbirds love.
I am drawn to the combination of yellow, white & purple in the garden. As much as I like red, I really don't fancy red flowers, but my front garden is cottage style so there is a happy mix of all colors.
This is a really nice place to sit and drink wine with your neighbor while watching your kids running around the street in the summertime. Also, I good spot to stop to divide up Halloween candy. These days because, yes, change is upon us, a perfect perch for discussing the dramas of middle school with your BFF. Close enough, but not within earshot of people not attending middle school. Not sure if this is what is meant by 'children being seen, but not heard'?
My favorite roses are yellow or orange. This one stopped me in my tracks at the nursery down the road. It is a Henry Fonda. Not a huge Hank Fonda fan, but I am sure he was a lovely man if such a rose could be named after him. It flowers like crazy all season with warmest of yellow petals. Almost makes me want to rent "On Golden Pond" in thanks for such prolific blooming .
Did I say I loved yellow & orange roses the best, well...there is a rose that is neither of those colors that I cherish. It is an Eden rose. Specifically an Eden climber. I special ordered 3 and I have moved them here & there. From pots, to spots and back again. I have finally found the perfect, for now anyway, home for them. My hope is that they will be very happy & bloom profusely arching over my bay window in the backyard. So far things look good! Here is a peek at one about to burst. You see when an Eden opens it is luminescent. It almost appears as if there is light coming from within the dense petals. I can't wait for this bud to change into an open rose. Maybe I really am ok with change?
In the words of David Bowie..."time may change me, but I can't trace time". So make the most of today, grow, bloom, change & make every minute count!

p.s. Change...do you embrace it or avoid it?
