January & February are wonderful months to reconnect intimately with dear friends.

The hubbub of the holidays are over, kids are back in school and the weather is conducive to cozy chats.

So for this season's Styled & Set Tour organized by the fabulous Lory of Designthusiasum, I am sharing a Valentine's Day table set for just this type of reconnecting.

If you arrived her from Jennifer over at Town & Country Living, WELCOME to you and everyone else stopping by today!

I set my table with fine china, crystal, gold flatware and beautiful flowers to honor a special friendship.

I chose pink alstroemeria aka Peruvian lilies and vibrant magenta roses for the color, but also as both are long lasting cut flowers.

The alstroemeria in particular has a very long vase life.

The meal will be my sweet potato & arugula frittata which is perfect for morning, afternoon or even evening.  You can get the recipe HERE.

The Valentine's Day table is located in my kitchen .  The spot where everyone ends up and feels most at home any time of the day.

Intimate and elevated is the perfect setting when hosting a cherished friend.

It says I value you, want to honor you, yet we can be figuratively & literally at home together.

For a twist on a traditional vase, I used a vintage tin candy box.

The candy box is from Louis Sherry ~ does anyone remember that confectioner?

When I spied this tin box at an estate sale, I was at first a bit disappointed that the top no longer closed completely, but then I had this idea...

Glad to be able to try it out for this table setting.

I have several other unusual vase ideas in my book, My Soulful Home ~ a year in flowers.  You can have a look HERE.

Read on for how I got water to these alstroemeria & roses in the candy tin.

The crowns placed on the vintage plates are from my dear friend Anita's shop.

Anita authors the blog Cedar Hill Farmhouse

I wish I had bought 20 crowns from her as she no longer operates the shop.  We simply got too busy with our podcast, Decorating Tips & Tricks.

Speaking of the podcast, today's episode is all about Valentine Ideas & Inspiration.

Have a listen I think you will enjoy it...  Just click the arrow below.

Ok, so to keep the flowers hydrated in the non-water proof Louis Sherry tin, I double bagged two bunches of flowers in separate ziploc baggies and rubber banded  the tops closed.

Because the flowers perch on an angle in the tin this worked perfectly.

I love the way the bright blooms peek out from the patina'ed tin.

If you are following along on our beautiful tour, your next stop will be So Much Better with Age blog. Head over I know Jamie has a Valentine's Day table for you too!

Do treat yourself to a visit to all the blogs this week.  I will have the links here in this post as the tour progresses.

Also, treat yourself and a dear friend of yours to some time to reconnect.  Our busy lives often keep us from spending time with those who are important to us.

Do yourself a favor and make a plan to meet a friend and catch up even if it is by phone.

You will both be the better for taking the time.

Enjoy the tour!
