Farmhouse Glam Porch Decor

Like the moths that circle about the lantern light at night, I gravitate to my front porch.

I have never really had a porch before, except a tiny one with room for one chair, me & a magazine.

The front porch of our 1886 house is large, has Victorian charm and beckons to me daily.

I actually set goals to get out there with a book or magazine for some relaxation.

That doesn't happen enough, but when it does I am truly in my kind of heaven.

I have been thinking that I am most certainly not alone in my quest to enjoy my home, rather than only caring for it and those inside it!

We all deserve a little R & R and it seems especially right to carve out that sort of time in the summer.

So for this season of the Styled & Set tour, I am sharing my front porch ~ decked out to attract even the busiest of 'bees'. Like me & YOU!

Thank you to Lory of Designthusiasm for once again putting together a stellar tour line up.  If you are heading over from Maison de Cinq welcome!

Join me on the front porch for a crisp glass of Rose'.  Come sit, let your 'do to list' slip from your mind, your shoulders relax & raise a glass.  We'll toast to making the time to just be.

That sounds nice doesn't it?

The irony of what I am about to tell you won't be lost on you...

So I am all set this morning to fluff up my porch, take some photos, finish my post and then #PORCHGOALS - sit and relax on the wicker settee' with a pile of magazines for the remainder of the day.

Well... let's just say I am still pursing my goal.  As I was fluffing I noticed a hornets nest way up high.  Then hornets moving in!  Lots of them.  Pillows were practically flying to swat them away!!

The hornets obviously had the same goal as me - but I was gonna achieve!

Trip to the hardware store, ladder, spray, wait, wack a few, wait, removal of the nest with the shop vac.  Cleaning out of the shop vac - then, resuming the fluffing.  Well my friends that took all day!

The glass of Rose' we talked of sharing is even more well deserved after this day!

Now that the hornets have moved on, let's talk porch decor...and share that toast.

My Farmhouse Glam style starts on the porch and continues inside.  I suggest you create your exterior spaces with your interior in mind.

My palette of white, black, grey, gold and lots of warm hued texture - like burlap, wicker, sisal and grain sack - is present on the front porch creating a flow into the interior.

I like to decorate the porch as if it is an interior room.  The drop cloth drapes I whipped up just this morning, give the space a sense of enclosure, which I really like.

All of the furniture on the porch is thrifted.  So nothing is too precious to live outside and everything has the patina I covet.

From the hexagon Florentine table to my recent find, the blingy pedestal side table, each piece comes with a story.

I anchored all these adopted pieces with a outdoor sisal like rug.  Adding a rug to an exterior space goes a long way to making it feel like a comfortable destination.

Seeing the porch all styled makes me even more resolute.  I am going to spend time out there - even if it is dark out!
